At the lake.. Priest Lake

For those that do not know... Priest Lake is in Northern Idaho, the very top of northern Idaho. It boarders Washington and Canada. It is a 23,000 acre lake at an elevation of 2,450 feet. It is also surrounded by 523,000 acres of state and USFS public lands. That.. makes for fewer people and less development! It takes us an hour and a half to drive up here.. But once here.. it is tough to leave and go back to Spokane.

Before we left the house, we were trying several ways in which we could take our little dog (Jax-e) with us. She loves to go and she loves even more feeling the wind through her fur.. We finally came up with a simple belt around Mel's waist connecting to her harness on each side and she sits between his legs on the fuel tank. This is to be used only for safe riding when chances of falling are less.. vs riding in sand or mud. We figure we could take a coconut shell half it and make a helmet for her out of it. What ever works ... right :) Then she would need a pair of doggels.. You know it's all for the pup :)

After we got up here.. it was sunny and beautiful so decided to go ride a little bit. We went north up the dirt road came to a "path" and had to cross a little bridge and then through a brushy area. Now I can't really explain this part good.. but when I am up here at the lake once in awhile.. when it is warm and the woods have been in shade or it has rained.. there is this amazing woodsy smell.. I love it.. It brings all kinds of memories back to me.. and yesterday.. I smelled it a few times while riding.. Oh it is so fantastic. I just wish I could explain it better.. but those of you that do know what I mean.. it is amazing... It is something you will never find in town. And the deer.. lots and lots of deer. In this photo.. there are deer ahead of me and it turns out.. there are 4 of them. The doe just stands in the middle of the road as I kept walking closer to her.. the others.. they walked out on the road and looked at me.. and as I got closer.. they went back into the woods where they had come from. It was pretty cool. I am just glad no cars came a long.. not sure they would have gotten out of the way in time.

We hope to spend more time up here this summer.. so far since we got home from Arizona.. we have actually been here MORE then the last couple years. We want to build an addition on, for a master bedroom.. with windows that face the lake and a deck that ties into the deck we already have. It will be interesting to see if this actually gets done this summer. We also need to fence this place. I would love to bring CB and Molly up here.. If we brought them up now.. I would have to bury cement blocks under ground to hold him and keep him from running.
They get lost up here.. we would never find them again.. I prefer that never happen :)
This summer we hope to get over to Glacier.. might just drive the car up and over the highway to the sun.. and stay in a hotel for a night. I think this might be the summer to do that :)
Will keep you posted of the trips..
you all take care..

Lake Havasu Arizona

WOW so pretty here.. lots of people.. but not a *^$(@!* mess of traffic!!
And the scenery here is just beautiful. I know if we would have gone through here coming down.. we would have stayed here instead of Yuma. We are in a campground right now and across the road from us is the lake. The sun rises to the right of us and sets to the left.. we see the city lights at night and well it is beautiful. ONLY two problems.. We back up to a hill and the towers are behind us.. so our computer and cell phone are not the greatest here. BUT I can get by.. just because of the view :)
We might stay a few days here longer.. then spend a few days at Glenns Ferry, so we can ride our bikes there.. hopefully the weather will be good. Then finish heading home.
I am anxious to see my Charlie and Molly.. it has been a long time since I have seen them, seems like forever. We will have to arrive home during the day.. because they are so noisy.. they will wake the whole block if we arrive home at night. They are pretty vocal :)
Well all .. this trip is winding down.. but will probably have a couple more posts before we get home.
You all take care..

Count down to Monday!

Only a couple more days left then we go to Kelley and Tammy's for a couple days. They are having a 3D Ultrasound on the baby March 6th. Then we leave from Phoenix for home. They know they are having a girl and have picked the name Kaitlyn Elizabeth for her name. They are due in June. And I pray this baby stays in there till at least May :) Hear that Kaitlyn!
Melody and Alex don't know the sex of their baby yet.. But found out she is due Sept. 2nd. If it is a girl they plan to call her Jillian Fay. They are not sure if it is a boy what his name would be. But :) They have time. So will let you know down the road :)
Boy I can't say I will miss Arizona.. It has been sunny and nice for the most part.. But I swear (yes I do!) the drivers in this state..OMG.. GRRRRR and the dust. We had a dust storm today.. and I know when my it is coming since my sinuses go balistic. Not to mention.. how wonderful my back feels.. not.
We plan to spend a couple days up in Lake Havasu City. Then head on back up.. the way we came down.. through Vegas (might have to spend a couple days) then up and through Glenns Ferry and spend a night at the winery.. they have really good food there. Speaking of food.. man I tell you.. the food down here.. almost as bad as in Costa Rica! They try.. but it isn't there. We did find a place MIMI'S Cafe.. that was good. Will be glad to get home.. 1st.. Rosauers for breakfast.. yum!
Then up through Boise and will stop and see Laralee and Athena (her daughter), probably for a little while then head on out.
I will say it will be tough to figure out where we are going to ride our motorcycles at once we get home.. unless we go up to the Lake and ride them around the lake. It has been fun riding out in the desert.. EXCEPT for the deep sand.. I don't like that.. not at all! You fishtail to much and if you don't get it just right you either fall over or fish tale.. it has to be perfect speed to skim across the top :)
But I will be glad to be home.. I miss my pups.. CB and Molly.. I know they haven't forgotten me.. hope they don't forget who Jax-e is.. but she will whoop them back into place :)
Oh one more thing.. I noticed while riding out in the desert.. people just dump their garbage.. where ever.. what a shame.. Besides doesn't say much about you. I am sure all places have this problem.. but man.. it is all over and sometimes they roll it out the back of their vehicle and it lays in the road..
You all take care..

Well trip almost over...

As this month (Feb) is slowly coming to a close.. I am starting to get things ready to start our trip back to Spokane. I am ready to go home.. I miss Charlie Brown and Molly something horrible! I could care less about the house.. but I miss my dogs!
And I miss my grocery store! OMG.. the stores around here..I swear they need ONE WAY on the shopping isles.. and not to mention signal lights in the meat/dairy. And rude.. oh my gosh.. rude is not the proper word..and it is not the local towns people.. it is all the snowbirds down here! Horrible.. if my momma ever saw me act like that.. she'd have whooped my butt! And the traffic.. don't know what they are doing.. half of them shouldn't be on the roads.. a fourth of them shouldn't have a drivers license and the other fourth might just survive being around the other 3/4th.. scary.. just scary.. and it is not uncommon to hear sirens all day long.. and there is no wondering why either.. you know.
We have to head down to Mexico again.. I need some pills.. Mel needs some pills.. I want to go shopping :) There is a couple things I want to get. So ... maybe tomorrow it is going to be nice again.. have a cold front (in mid 50s) going through.. BUT does have rain with it.. and after being soaked last time we went to Mexico.. ahhh we'll wait for a good day. We also want to go to the Yuma Prison.. which I dont know if any heard.. they are planning on closing it.. Seems the Govt is cutting funding for National Parks.. and this is one of them.. and it is being cut. The people of Yuma are trying to save it and raise money needs for a year of keeping it going. I hear on the news they are doing pretty good.
Spokane made the news last night.. wasn't good news either.. seems some (&&^$^&( is going around poisoning dogs with meatballs laced with something.. I worry about my dogs which are outside all the time.. mainly because CB would eat anything if it meant filling his tummy (his priority). I hope they catch the guy and someone in jail slips him something! I could say something .. but best not.. ugh makes me really mad.
Well not sure which way we are heading home.. had thought of 101 up but to much rain and slides.. will probably go up the way we came down. I am not sure.. I am really to head for the barn.. but not sure what Mel wants to do.
March 6th my daughter in law and son (Tammy & Kelley) are having a 3 D ultrasound of their little girl done.. Kaitlynn Elizabeth, so will be here for that and then that following Sunday.. Monday we will be heading out.
We also had our first ultrasound of Mel's daughter Melody's baby.. Next month I believe is when they find out the sex.
I have been making little dresses for Karli and Athena.. helps pass the time and they are cute :) Well some are.. some I don't care for the material.. but I can't take it back.. consider them play dresses :) Then I have also been doing genealogy.. I have been working on Mel's family and he gets all excited when I find something and moans when I tell him now there is 2 reasons to go back to Ireland.. his Fay's are from there along with my Holmes. SO.. I see a trip someday in the future :)
Been riding our motorcycles.. I am doing okay.. have a senior moment every now and then.. but have kept it upright.. Mel well he has the "PIT" he likes to go to.. vowing he IS going to beat it.. as in NOT falling over (going to slow in deep sand). Soon I am sure he will need a hip replacement.. from all the falling. He said last time he went to the pit. he didn't fall over.. I guess that is progress.. sigh
We have been using the pool here. nice temp.. I have lost some weight.. enough where some of my shorts would slide down if I didn't roll the waistband.. Wish I could loose faster.. now to get home.. have a fridge and be able to put more fresh stuff in .. our little fridge here is way small .. but I do go to the store about every 3rd day.. TENDING to keep to after 7pm so I can walk.. it is almost empty then! And fruit.. oh I have been eating the fruit down here like crazy.. my diabetes is shot all to....and then some. But the fruit is so good.. how can you eat 6 strawberries.. sweet juice and fresh.. come on.. or fresh blackberries and raspberries.. ohhh so good.. I eat way to many. I try to off set it with eating a cheese stick then.. don't think it works though..
Well I have probably bored all of you enough..
You all take care.. Keri
